I promised Frank that I would pass on the "Good Food & Beer" column from "Phoenix" the newsletter of Nottingham Yacht Club. Here is the first one of the after summer period.
Good Food and Beer
I am starting to relate another summer of travelling hardship by eating and drinking my way around the canal system. The first port of call this year was the “King William IV” in Alrewas. I ate in there on a Saturday night when they were quite busy. I had Spicy Garlic Prawns to start, followed by Salmon poached in Champagne, then to really make a pig of myself I had the William IV Special Desert. This was a massive Ice cream concoction. Vanilla,Coconut, Chocolate ice cream with pineapple in Malibu and cream. I didn't even feel guilty, lots of locks to do. Because I was on my own the landlady kept me supplied with newspapers and magazines. The beer was Marstons Night Watchman. Thoroughly recommended. _________________ Moored at Cranfleet on River Trent |
